Pinetop Country Club
is situated on property which was once part of Sitgreaves
National Forest before being acquired by Southwest Forest
Industries around 1960. After Southwest Forest held the
property for a few years, they abandoned their plans to
move the McNary lumber operation to these 1,196 acres.
The entire acreage was then made available for purchase.
In 1964 the partnership of
Bob Fernandez, Glen L. Jones and Frank Crosby obtained
an option to purchase this acreage.
Pinetop Country Club was formed in
May of 1965 as a private membership equity country club,
its purpose being the construction and operation of
a golf course and other related recreational facilities.

facilities, featuring a par three 19th-Hole for play-offs
